Establishment of a quality management system
Our customers appreciate the high quality of our products and services. As early as 1996/97, our company started a quality management system according to DIN EN ISO. When setting up the QM system, we proceeded as follows:
- Analysis of operational conditions
- Implementation of a series of workshops on the design of the QM system
- Development of QM documentation
- Introduction of the QM system
- Certification by DNV
- annual audit of the company
For more than 28 years now, our Barther shipyard has been continuously certified in accordance with the latest quality assurance system according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 as well as the latest EC directives of the applicable state-of-the-art quality assurance program.

Establishment of an environmental management system
Since 10 April 1995, the "Council Regulation (EEC) No 1836/93 of 29 June 1993 on the voluntary participation of industrial undertakings in a community scheme and on the audit of the environment" (EC Eco-Audit Regulation) has been in force. Following the introduction of this environmental audit, EC Regulation No. 761/2001 was adopted. In order to meet the corresponding responsibility of a sustainable shipyard operation, the shipyard management decided to subordinate itself to the above-mentioned auditing and received on March 28, 2002, after successfully defending the environmental audit, the registration certificate according to EMAS for the management of the company according to the above-mentioned environmental management system.
Schiffswerft Barth GmbH and its sister company, Barther Yacht-Service GmbH, are constantly striving to reconcile ecological and economic goals with their shipbuilding activities. This is particularly important in the very environmentally sensitive area of shipbuilding and ship repair at our site. The town of Barth is surrounded by the landscape conservation area "Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft". Only with a pronounced environmental awareness can a protection of nature be achieved here. With our annual environmental statement, our company gives an account of previous successes and still existing deficits in operational environmental protection and shows our goals and measures for continuous improvement of environmental protection. Here, the audit was carried out by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Together with the city of Barth, we have succeeded in winning the environmental flag continuously since 2000 due to the very good environmentally relevant performance.
